CAPT is constituted and established in order to: 1) Promote organization, professional development and recognition of Psychiatric Technicians. 2) Promote the welfare of Psychiatric Technicians, compatible with the public interest, including supporting legislation deemed benificial to Psychiatric Technicians and resisting legislation deemed detrimental to their interests. 3) Provide representation for Psychiatric Technicians in discussions and/or negotiations with all appropriate government agencies. 4) Represent the interests of Psychiatric Technicians in all matters relating to wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment, and professional licensing and certification, without engaging in any acts of discrimination prohibited by federal or state law. 5) Serve as the professional association for all Psychiatric Technicians in California.
