THE PRIMARY MISSION OF THE COSB IS TO BRING A HIGH LEVEL OF ARTISTIC EXCELLENCE TO THE SOUTH BAY AREA OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY. THE COSB NOW SERVES AS THE ONLY PROFESSIONAL CLASSICAL ORCHESTRA RESIDENT IN THE SOUTH BAY (LONG BEACH IS NOT DEMOGRAPHICALLY PART OF THE SOUTH BAY, AND THE LOS ANGELES PHILHARMONIC HAS CEASED PERFORMING IN THE SOUTH BAY). A SECONDARY MISSION OF THE COSB IS TO PARTNER WITH LOCAL EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS TO PROVIDE FREE OPEN REHEARSALS FOR STUDENTS.
