THE ORGANIZATION WAS FORMED TO CONDUCT AND SUPPORT ACTIVITIES WHICH PROMOTE THE ADVANCEMENT AND FURTHER THE AIMS OF DOWNEAST INSTITUTE FOR APPLIED MARINE RESEARCH AND EDUCATION, INC. (THE "INSTITUTE"). THE PURPOSES FOR WHICH THE ORGANIZATION IS ORGANIZED INCLUDE OWNERSHIP, MAINTENANCE AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE REAL PROPERTY AND IMPROVEMENTS USED IN CONNECTION WITH THE OPERATION OF THE INSTITUTE AND THE BORROWING OF MONEY FOR SUCH OWNERSHIP, MAINTENANCE AND IMPROVEMENT, AND CONVEYANCE, LEASING OR SUBLEASING THE SAME, IN EACH CASE IN FURTHERANCE OF THE CHARITABLE PURPOSES OF THE INSTITUTE.
