FANNIE LOU HAMER INSTITUTE OF ADVOCACY & SOCIAL ACTION
Mission
The primary exempt purpose of The Fannie Lou Hamer Institute of Advocacy & Social Action is charitable. We provide a free community-based rite of passage program for girls ages 6-18. (1) Rite of Passage $45,000 (2) Her~She Girls' Leadership Two Week Summer Camp $20,000 (3) Partnership with Wake County Public Schools $15,000). We have impacted more than 1500 young girls by ensuring that their school suspensions were fair and just, provided a diversionary program so they would have no criminal charges, and allowed a culturally contextual space where they learn the African principles of Ubuntu and Sankofa along with several more.
