THE PRIMARY MISSION OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO ADVANCE SOCIAL & CIVIC INTERESTS ON THE ISLAND OF MARTHA'S VINEYARD AND TO UPHOLD THE PORTUGUESE AND CATHOLIC RELIGIOUS TRADITIONS BY HAVING AN ANNUAL FEAST HONORING THE NAMESAKE OF THE ORGANIZATION. THE ORGANIZATION, AS PART OF ITS CIVIC MISSION, HOLDS EVENTS WHICH PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIPS TO GRADUATING SENIORS AT THE LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO OFFERS AND PROVIDES ASSISTANCE TO PEOPLE IN NEED IN THE COMMUNITY.
