THE FOUNDATION IS A U.S. "FRIENDS OF" ENTITY FORMED BY INDIVIDUALS WHO WISH TO ADVANCE AND SUPPORT THE WORK OF THE INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (BANARAS HINDU UNIVERSITY, "IIT (BHU)"), A PUBLIC TECHNICAL AND RESEARCH UNIVERSITY LOCATED IN VARANASI, UTTAR PRADESH, INDIA, WHICH IS EXPECTED TO BE THE PRINCIPAL (ALTHOUGH NOT NECESSARILY EXCLUSIVE) GRANTEE OF FUNDS DISTRIBUTED BY THE ORGANIZATION.
