PROVIDENCE TEACHERS UNION LOCAL 958, AFT, AFL-CIO IS A LABOR ORGANIZATION THAT PROMOTES THE CAUSE OF SOUND AND DEMOCRATIC EDUCATION BY (A) CONVINCING THE CITIZENS OF THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND AND THE CITY OF PROVIDENCE THAT ADEQUATE EDUCATION OF THEIR CHILDREN MUST BE THE FIRST CHARGE AGAIN PUBLIC REVENUES, (B) MAINTAINING AND IMPROVING THE CONDITIONS OF ITS TEACHERS WITH RESPECT TO SALARIES, TENURE, PENSIONS, CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT, AND THE RIGHT TO FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION IN AND OUT OF THE CLASSROOM, AND (C) PROMOTING DEMOCRATIZATION OF THE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION.
