THE ROME ART PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO INSPIRE STUDENTS TO EXPAND THEIRARTISTIC VISION THROUGH PAINTING AND DRAWING ON THE STREETS OF ROME ANDFLORENCE, AND IN THE COUNTRYSIDE OF UMBRIA, EXPANDING ON THE PLEIN-AIRTRADITION OF EARLIER GENERATIONS OF ARTISTS. THE PROGRAM'S IDEOLOGY ISBASED ON THE COMPELLING IMPACT THAT FIRSTHAND OBSERVATION AND PERCEPTIONHAVE ON DRAWING AND PAINTING. STUDENTS WILL WORK ON LOCATION, TAKING THEIRINSPIRATION FROM THE EVOCATIVE RUINS, CHURCHES, RENAISSANCE PALACES,GARDENS, AND NATURAL SCENERY THAT CONSTITUTE THE ITALIAN LANGUAGE.CRITIQUES AND LECTURES WILL LEND INSIGHT AND PROMPT A DEEPER KNOWLEDGE OFEACH STUDENT'S ARTISTIC JOURNEY. GUIDING STUDENTS THROUGH IMPORTANT SITES,DISTINGUISHED ART HISTORIANS WILL ILLUMINATE THE SIGNIFICANCE OF HISTORICPLACES AND PERIODS. WORKING PLEIN-AIR, WHERE THE STREET AND GARDEN BECOMESTHE STUDIO, PROFOUNDLY IMPACTS THE FOCUS AND OUTPUT OF OUR STUDENTS.
