Seattle Housing and Resource Effort (SHARE) was incorporated with the purpose to assist homeless men and women to acquire jobs and to educate the general community about the problems of homelessness. SHARE is managed and its activities are carried out by homeless individuals and as such is a self-help group rather than a social service organization. The Women's Housing Equality and Enhancement League (WHEEL) provides shelters for women and works to get women out of the places where they have been hiding, recognize each woman as an individual, and involve them in the process of improving and creating programs to meet their own needs. SHARE has been working for over three decades to eradicate homelessness and empower homeless people.
