THE ORGANIZATION HAS MANY EXEMPT PURPOSES, BUT THE VFW EXISTS PRIMARILY TO PROMOTE THE SOCIAL WELFARE OF THE COMMUNITY AND TO ASSIST DISABLED AND NEEDY WAR VETERANS AND MEMBERS OF THE U. S. ARMED FORCES, THEIR DEPENDENTS AND THE WIDOWS AND ORPHANS OF DECEASED VETERANS.
