THE AG LAND TRUST WAS CREATED ON AUGUST 1, 1984, TO PROTECT PRODUCTIVE AGRICULTUAL LAND FROM THE PRESSURE OF COMMERCIAL AND RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT. THE AG LAND TRUST HAS PROTECTED MORE IRRIGATED FARMLAND AND HAS BEEN MORE EFFECTIVE IN REDIRECTING CITY GROWTH TOWARD LESS DESIRABLE LAND THAN ANY OTHER AGRICULTURAL LAND TRUST IN CALIFORNIA
