AOSI'S PURPOSES INCLUDE: (A) COORDINATING, ADMINISTERING, AND ADVISING PROGRAMS BOTH IN THE UNITED STATES AND ABROAD ON A RANGE OF ISSUES, INCLUDING PUBLIC HEALTH, EDUCATION, AND, MORE GENERALLY, DEVELOPMENT OF CIVIL SOCIETY; (B) EDUCATING THE PUBLIC ABOUT ISSUES CONCERNING SOCIETIES ATTEMPTING TO TRANSFORM FROM TOTALITARIAN OR AUTHORITARIAN RULE TO DEMOCRATIC MARKETECONOMIES; AND (C) PROMOTING THE VALUES OF OPEN, DEMOCRATIC SOCIETIES THROUGHOUT THE WORLD.
