The primary exempt purpose is providing financial support for programs and projects not normally funded through the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department operations budget. This is done by supporting innovative projects meant to launch experimental programs and helping the police department keep pace with rapidly evolving technology, training and techniques.
