Mission

Girls and women grow up in a world in which they are taught to fear everything, but secured from nothing. From childhood through adulthood, they devise responses to an array of threats to their personal security. Their security insights are unparalleled. However, outmoded norms, systemic bias and discrimination, lack of visible role models, and lack of visible pathways have impeded their advancement across the security sector. Girl Security's mission centers the experiences of underrepresented communities and populations targeted by violence at the core of its model: through trauma-informed training, mentoring, and professional advancement, participants can fulfill their economic potential in this consequential sector and lead solutions to the world's most pressing security challenges.
