NOTIFICATION OF PENDING EXCAVATION ALLOWS UTILITIES WITH UNDERGROUND FACILITIES IN THE AREA AN OPPORTUNITY TO MARK THOSE FACILITIES SO THAT EXCAVATORS CAN AVOID THEM. ACCIDENTS INVOLVING UNDERGROUND UTILITIES AND FACILITIES ARE PREVENTED.
