THE VEBA IS MAINTAINED TO PROVIDE BENEFITS FOR ELIGIBLE UNION MEMBERS WHO ARE SICK AND HAVE EXHAUSTED LEAVE FROM THE U.S. POSTAL SERVICE, TO PROVIDE A ONE-TIME LUMP SUM PAYOUT TO THE BENEFICIARIES OF DECEASED UNION MEMBERS, AND TO PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIP ASSISTANCE FOR ELIGIBLE PARTICIPANTS.
