Building TransparencySeattle, WAA-104 The carbon results framework project: the goal of the ec3 tool project is to transform building construction by transparently measuring comparing and reducing embodied carbon emission from construction materials. each year the built environment contributes almost 40% of co2 emission worldwide and it is estimated that there will be a doubling of the amount of building floorspace in the next 40 years. at least half of the carbon footprint of these new building will take the form of embodied carbon in the emissions associated with the building construction including extracting transporting manufacturing and installing building materials. as a result owners designers engineers and contactors are turning their attention to building material seeking information on these products so they can make informed smart choices. the ec3 tool would enable the building industry to easily access and view material carbon emissions data.$25k

The use of CPSW-CF structures leverage steel pre-fabrication in the shop and stay-in-place formwork to reduce the time spent on site and accelerates the construction schedule. Professor Bruneau from the University of Buffalo serves as the principal investigator.$20k

Steel-CLT buildings are currently being constructed throughout the US. However the existing design guides for diaphragm and vibration design have not been developed through experimental data. The educations materials will include slides recorded presentations guideline documents recordings of live workshops seminars and discussions by expert panels in the field of structural fire engineering fire protection engineering and performance-based design.$0
