In 1988 the Navy League USA - Madison Council was created to support the sea services of the United States and the men, women and families of those serving by proving scholarships, STEM education programs funded by donations and raffles at social events normally about $10,000/yr. In 2024 for the first time it took on the role of fiscal agent for the commissioning of the USS Beloit LCS 29. The USS Beloit Commissioning Committee is a charitable project operated under the fiscal and legal sponsorship of the Madison Council of the Navy League. The Committee is not a separate legal entity, but functions as a program of the Madison Council in partnership with the City of Beloit and other community organizations.The Madison Council retains full discretion and control over the funds raised in support of the USS Beloit Commissioning and is responsible for ensuring that all disbursements further the organizations exempt purposes.
