THE ORGANIZATION WAS FORMED FOR THE PURPOSE OF 1) HAVING OTHER WORTHY ORGANIZATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS BENEFIT FROM CHARITABLE, FINANCIAL AND HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE, 2) FURNISHING FUNDS TO PURCHASE MEDIAL EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES TO BE DONATED TO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK FOR USE BY ITS ACTIVE AND RETIRED MEMBERS, AND 3) TO PRESENT A MEDAL OF VALOR ON BEHALF OF THE RETIRED DETECTIVES OF NEW YORK CITY, TO BE PRESENTED TO A MEMBER OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK, ANNUALLY, DURING MEDAL DAY CEREMONIES.
