THE VIRGINIA TRIBAL EDUCATION CONSORTIUM (VTEC) IS A 501(C)(3) ORGANIZATION REPRESENTING SEVEN (7) FEDERALLY RECOGNIZED TRIBES OF VIRGINIA. THE CORE FUNCTION OF VTEC IS TO PROVIDE MORE POSITIVE OUTCOMES FOR EDUCATION OF VIRGINIA INDIAN STUDENTS, ESPECIALLY AS IT RELATES TO VIRGINIA INDIAN HISTORY, CULTURE, AND LANGUAGE. AS SUCH VTEC SERVES AS THE TRIBAL EDUCATION AGENCY FOR THE SEVEN FEDERALLY RECOGNIZED TRIBES. THE PURPOSE OF VTEC IS TO DEVELOP PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENTS WITH LOCAL EDUCATION AGENCIES (LEAS) AND THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION TO ENHANCE PRIMARY AND SECONDARY OPPORTUNITIES FOR VIRGINIA INDIAN STUDENTS AND ADULTS, INCLUDING WORK-BASED LEARNING EXPERIENCES.
