THE PURPOSE OF THE CORPORATION SHALL BE TO LESSEN THE BURDEN OF YANKTON'S MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT IN THE OPERATION OF A FUNCTIONAL FIRE DEPARTMENT BY RECRUITING AND TRAINING COMPETENT VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS, ACQUIRING APPROPRIATE FIREFIGHTING EQUIPMENT, FIGHTING OF FIRES, EDUCATING THE PUBLIC IN ALL ASPECTS OF FIRE SAFETY, AND PROMOTING REGIONAL FIRE EDUCATION PROGRAMMING FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND FOR THE ASSOCIATION'S MEMBERSHIP.
