THE AMERICAN FEDERATION OF TEACHERS- LOCAL 1839 (AFT-LOCAL 1839) WAS FOUNDED IN 1972 AND REPRESENTS THE FACULTY, PROFESSIONAL STAFF, LIBRARIANS, A H MOORE FACULTY/ STAFF AND ADJUNCT FACULTY AT NEW JERSEY CITY UNIVERSITY AND IS AN AFFILIATE LOCAL OF THE AMERICAN FEDERATION OF TEACHERS AND THE AFL-CIO. THE AFT-LOCAL 1839 IS A FOUNDING MEMBER AND ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN ALL THE ACTIVITIES OF THE COUNCIL OF NEW JERSEY STATE COLLEGE LOCALS, PARTICIPATING IN UNION NEGOTIATIONS IN FULL-TIME/PART-TIME AGREEMENTS AND THE ADJUNCT FACULTY AGREEMENTS.
