CENTRAL GEORGIA CASA PROVIDES HIGH QUALITY VOLUNTEER ADVOCACY TO CHILD VICTIMS OF ABUSE AND NEGLECT WHO HAVE BEEN ADJUDICATED DEPENDENT BY THE JUVENILE COURT AND PLACED IN FOSTER CARE. PROVIDING THIS HIGH-QUALITY VOLUNTEER ADVOCACY INCLUDES THE RECRUITING, SCREENING, TRAINING, SUPERVISING, AND SUPPORTING OF VOLUNTEER ADVOCATES FROM THROUGHOUT OUR COMMUNITY. THESE VOLUNTEER ADVOCATES, HAVING BEEN EQUIPPED IN TRAINING WITH A KNOWLEDGE OF TRAUMA, THE FOSTER CARE SYSTEM, AND THE EXPECTATIONS OF THEIR ROLE, THEN WORK WITH MEMBERS OF CASA STAFF TO VISIT THE CHILD THEY SERVE, MAINTAIN CONTACT WITH THE DFCS CASE MANAGER ASSIGNED TO THEIR CASE, AND ENSURE THAT THE SERVICES THAT THE CHILD'S NEEDS ARE MET. THESE VOLUNTEER ADVOCATES SUBMIT A WRITTEN REPORT TO THE JUVENILE COURT AT EACH HEARING AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE COURT, BASED ON THE INFORMATION GATHERS, REGARDING THE BEST INTEREST OF THE CHILD.
