FAMILY PROMISE OF MARTIN COUNTY IS A NON-PROFIT, INTERFAITH HOSPITALITY NETWORK PROVIDING SHELTER, TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE, HOSPITALITY, TRANSITIONAL HOUSING AND CASE MANAGEMENT FOR FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN EXPERIENCING AND AT RISK OF HOMELESSNESS. ONGOING SUPPORT IS PROVIDED TO EMPOWER WORKING FAMILIES TO ACHIEVE SUSTAINABLE INDEPENDENCE THROUGH A COMMUNITY BASED RESPONSE.THE ORGANIZATION DOES THIS FIRST BY PROVIDING PREVENTION SERVICES BEFORE FAMILIES REACH A CRISIS, SHELTER WHEN HOMELESSNESS IS INEVITABLE, TRANSITIONAL HOUSING AND STABILIZATION EFFORTS TO HELP FAMILIES BECOME AND REMAIN INDEPENDENT.WHILE MOST SHELTERS SEPARATE FAMILIES BASED UPON GENDER, AGE, AND GENERATIONAL PLACEMENT, FAMILY PROMISE OF MARTIN COUNTY'S FOCUS IS ON KEEPING THE FAMILY TOGETHER. NOT ONLY DOES THIS PREVENT FURTHER FISCAL AND FINANCIAL STRAIN ON THE COMMUNITY, BUT IT PREVENTS SIGNIFICANT UNNECESSARY TRAUMA ON THE FAMILY.
