Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County, Inc (HFH) is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to expand affordable housing opportunities by partnering with people in our community. Applicants qualify for Habitat's homeownership program by meeting three criteria:-Need for housing-All applicants demonstrate that they are currently living in substandard, unaffordable and/or overcrowded conditions.-Ability to pay-Applicants must be able to pay an affordable mortgage which is less than 30% of the household income. Household income should fall between 35-80% of the area median income.-Willingness to partner-Each non-dependent adult who will live in the Habitat home is required to invest a minimum of 250 hours of sweat equity. Sweat equity includes, but is not limited to, taking mandatory homeownership and financial readiness courses, volunteering on the construction site, and working in Habitat's ReStore.
