THE MISSION IS TO FURTHER THE INTERNATIONAL AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSEUM'S CHARITABLE PURPOSE OF OPERATING, MAINTAINING, AND PROMOTING A MUSEUM AND EDUCATIONAL CENTER DESIGNED TO INTERPRET AMERICAN HISTORY THROUGH THE LENS OF THE AFRICAN AMERICA EXPERIENCE IN THE LOWCOUNTRY, AND TO ILLUSTRATE THE RELATIONSHIP OF THE AREA TO THE ATLANTIC WORLDS, SPECIFICALLY THE CARIBBEAN, WEST, CENTRAL AFRICA AND EUROPE.
