FOUNDED IN 1993 AS A NONPROFIT CORP WITH 501(C)(3) TAX-EXEMPT STATUS, THE MIAMI VALLEY FAIR HOUSING CENTER (MVFHC) CONTINUES TO BE THE ONLY PRIVATE FAIR HOUSING ORGANIZATION IN THE MAIMI VALLEY REGION. THE MISSION OF MVFHC IS TO ELIMINATE HOUSING DISCRIMINATION AND ENSURE EQUAL HOUSING OPPORTUNITY LOCALLY AND NATIONALLY. SPECIFICALLY, THE MVFHC SEEKS TO ELIMINATE HOUSING DESCRIMINATION AGAINST ALL PERSONS BECAUSE OF RACE, COLOR, RELIGION, NATIONAL ORIGIN, SEX, DISABILITY, FAMILLIAL STATUS OR ANY OTHER CHARACTERISTIC PROTECTED UNDER STATE OR LOCAL LAWS. MVFHC ENGAGES IN ACTIVITIES DESIGNED TO ENCOURAGE FAIR HOUSING PRACTICES THROUGH EDUCATIONAL EFFORTS; ASSIST PERSONS WHO BELIEVE THEY HAVE BEEN VICTIMS OF HOUSING DISCRIMINATION; IDENTIFIES BARRIERS TO FAIR HOUSING; WORKS WITH ELECTED OFFICIALS AND GOVERNMENT REPRESENTATIVES; AND TAKES APPROPRIATE ENFORCEMENT ACTION WHEN NECESSARY.
