THE OBJECTIVE OF AMICSTL IS TO DEVELOP A WORLD CLASS ADVANCED MANUFACTURING FACILITY THAT WILL (1) BE USED TO RESEARCH AND DEVELOP NEW MATERIALS AS WELL AS MANUFACTURING TECHNIQUES AND PROCESSES AND THAT WILL (2) TRAIN A WORKFORCE IN THE NUANCES AND SKILLS NEEDED TO WORK WITH THESE NEW MANUFACTURING TECHNIQUES WITH SPECIFIC EMPHASIS ON CREATING NEW JOB OPPORTUNITIES FOR MINORITIES. BY HAVING THE FACILITY AND TRAINED WORKFORCE INPLACE, THE GOAL IS TO RE-VITALIZE THE MANUFACTURING SEGMENT WITHIN THE REGION AND ATTRACT NEWBUSINESSES TO THE ST. LOUIS REGION LEADING TO A RE-DEVELOPMENT.
