THE COBELL BOARD OF TRUSTEES WAS CREATED TO IMPLEMENT AND ADMINISTER THE COBELL SCHOLARSHIP FUND CREATED UNDER P.L. 111-291, AS A RESULT OF LITIGATION COMMONLY KNOWN AS COBELL VS. SALAZAR. THE FUND IS TO PROVIDE AND EXPAND ACADEMIC OPPORTUNITIES FOR HIGHER EDUCATION TO QUALIFYING NATIVE AMERICAN AND ALASKA NATIVE STUDENTS. THIS WILL BE ACHIEVED BY PRUDENT AND FAIR ADMINISTRATION, INVESTMENT AND DISTRIBUTION OF FUNDS FOR EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS.
