THE PURPOSES FOR WHICH THIS CORPORATION IS FORMED ARE FOR SCIENTIFIC, EDUCATIONAL, LITERARY AND CHARITABLE PURPOSES WITHIN THE MEANING OF SECTION 501(C)(3) OF THE INTERNAL REVENUE CODE OF 1986, AS AMENDED (HEREINAFTER THE "CODE"), AND FOR THE SPECIFIC AND EXCLUSIVE PURPOSE OF THE PROMOTION OF THE WELFARE OF DUKE UNIVERSITY (OR ANY OF DUKE UNIVERSITY'S SUPPORT OR AFFILIATED CORPORATIONS); AND TO ACQUIRE, RETAIN AND OPERATE PROPERTY OR PROPERTIES, REAL OR PERSONAL, TANGIBLE OR INTANGIBLE, TO BE HELD EXCLUSIVELY FOR THE BENEFIT OR AT THE DIRECTION OF DUKE UNIVERSITY (OR ANY OF DUKE UNIVERSITY'S SUPPORT OR AFFILIATED CORPORATIONS); AND TO ENGAGE IN ANY LAWFUL ACT OR ACTIVITY FOR WHICH CORPORATIONS MAY BE ORGANIZED UNDER THE NONPROFITCORPORATION ACT OF NORTH CAROLINA.
