SHIELDS FOR FAMILIES INC IS A COMPREHENSIVE COMMUNITY BASED NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION SERVING FAMILIES RESIDING IN SOUTH LOS ANGELES WITH A PRIMARY GOAL TO: (1) PROMOTE FAMILY REUNIFICATION AND SUPPORT FAMILIES REMAINING INTACT IN THE COMMUNITY; (2) STRENGTHEN FAMILIES THROUGH THE PROVISION OF COMPREHENSIVE, COLLABORATIVE SERVICES; (3) IMPROVE THE GENERAL WELL BEING OF FAMILIES THROUGH COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH PROGRAMS AND PREVENTIVE SOCIAL SERVICES; AND (4) PROMOTE SELF-SUFFICIENCY AND ECONOMIC INDEPENDENCE. SHIELDS EXISTS TO STRENGHTHEN THE FAMILY AND COMMUNITY BY BUILDING SKILLS THROUGH EDUCATION, COUNSELING AND SUPPORT.
