As a subsidiary of Salem Regional Medical Center ("the Medical Center"), the purpose of the SCH Professional Corporation is to provide a corporate structure for effectively attracting and retaining physicians to support the mission of the Medical Center and to meet community need by providing a diverse geographic and/or multi-specialty base of services. Prior to the affiliation and/or opening of the SCH Professional Corporation offices, access to these respective healthcare providers was lacking; the services were available only in a reduced capacity; and/or the communities were experiencing difficulty in recruiting and retaining medical practitioners, resulting in gaps in medical treatment or barriers to access.
