FOR MORE THAN A CENTURY, UNITED METHODIST FAMILY SERVICES OF VIRGINIA UMFS HAS SERVED THE COMMUNITY AS UNWAVERING CHAMPIONS FOR VULNERABLE KIDS AND THEIR FAMILIES, DOING WHATEVER IT TAKES TO HELP THEM OVERCOME OBSTACLES AND REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL. WE EMPOWER KIDS TO OVERCOME TRAUMA, SUCCEED IN SCHOOL, AND CREATE LIFELONG CONNECTIONS. OUR GOAL IS TO HELP CHILDREN AND FAMILIES BECOME SELF-SUFFICIENT MEMBERS OF THEIR COMMUNITIES, AND IN TURN, TO CREATE A WORLD IN WHICH CARING, OPPORTUNITY AND GENEROSITY ARE PASSED ON FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION. AS A RESULT OF OUR WORK, 2,986 YOUTH RECEIVED LIFE-CHANGING SERVICES IN 204 COMMUNITIES ACROSS VIRGINIA, COLLECTIVELY TOUCHING THE LIVES OF 10,004 CHILDREN, TEENS AND FAMILIES.
