THE ASSOCIATION WAS ESTABLISHED IN ORDER TO IMPROVE THE INTELLECTUAL, MORAL, SPIRITUAL, SOCIAL AND PHYSICAL CONDITION OF BOTH YOUNG AND OLD PEOPLE OF WASHINGTON HEIGHTS AND INWOOD COMMUNITIES AND HELP THEM DEVELOP MORE FREELY, SO THAT ALL MAY COME TO ENJOY A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF OUR DEMOCRATIC WAY OF LIFE. THE ASSOCIATION SEEKS TO PROMOTE THE IDEALS OF AMERICAN CITIZENSHIP AND JUDAISM BY DEVELOPING AND CONDUCTING A COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAM OF GUIDED LEISURE-TIME ACTIVITIES , UTILIZING THE SKILLS AND METHODS OF GROUP WORK, INFORMAL EDUCATION AND RECREATION AIMED AT HELPING INDIVIDUALS TO ACHIEVE AN AFFIRMATIVE IDENTIFICATION WITH JEWISH LIFE AND A DEEP APPRECIATION OF THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES AS CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES. THE ASSOCIATION SEEKS ALSO TO GIVE ASSISTANCE TO THE NEEDY & TO OFFER HELP TO THOSE IN DISTRESS OF ANY RACE, CREED OR COLOR, AND TO COOPERATE WITH OTHER ASSOCIATIONS NOW TO HEREAFTER TO BE FORMED WITH LIKE PURPOSES.
