THE MISSION OF THE CHICAGO URBAN LEAGUE IS TO WORK FOR ECONOMIC, EDUCATIONAL AND SOCIAL PROGRESS FOR AFRICAN AMERICANS AND PROMOTES STRONG, SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES THROUGH PROGRESSIVE ADVOCACY, EFFECTIVE COLLABORATION AND INNOVATIVE PROGRAMMING. IN THE 50 YEARS SINCE THE CIVIL RIGHTS ACT WAS ENACTED, AFRICAN AMERICANS STILL STRUGGLE WITH THE SAME CORE ISSUES: EMPLOYMENT, EDUCATION, HOUSING, INCOME STABILITY. WE MUST CHANGE THE WAY THE AFRICAN-AMERICAN COMMUNITY IS POSITIONED AND UNDERSTOOD, BOTH INTERNALLY AND EXTERNALLY. OVER THE PAST 100 YEARS, THE CHICAGO URBAN LEAGUE HAS CONSISTENTLY DEMONSTRATED THAT WE ARE A MOVEMENT THAT INCITES CHANGE. AS WE ENTER OUR SECOND CENTURY, WE WILL BE THE CONVENER THAT CONNECTS ALL THE PLAYERS AND SERVES AS A CATALYST FOR PERMANENT CHANGE.
