The Corporation is organized and operated exclusively for scientific and educational purposes; to serve as the data management situs for multi-center research projects; to connect healthcare institutions with public health entities for the purpose of reporting notifiable diseases and patient safety quality measures; to apply rules to standardized aggregated electronic medical records for public health and research activities; to host websites for researchers and public health agencies; to develop innovative tools for use in the science of informatics, including open source and licensable software and software methodologies; to provide data services including data mapping and normalization, data analysis, public health data best practices and guidance, honest identity exchange, and data stewardship. The Corporation facilitates and convenes collaborative efforts to advance public health informatics, and data-driven health research.
