GILCHRIST HOSPICE CARE IS ORGANIZED AND OPERATED EXCLUDIVELY AS A NONPROFIT CHARITABLE AND EDUCATIONAL ORGANIZATION WITHIN THE MEANING OF SECTION 501(C)(3) OF THE INTERNAL REVENUE CODE FOR THE FOLLOWING PURPOSES: (1) TO DEVELOP, OWN, MANAGE, AND OPERATE A HOSPICE PROGRAM, PROVIDING INPATIENT AND OUTPATIENT HOSPICE SERVICES INCLUDING OPERATING AN INPATIENT FACILITY FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE TERMINALLY ILL INDIVIDUALS AND THEIR FAMILIES AND OTHER CAREGIVERS, AND TO PROVIDE OTHER HEALTH RELATED SERVICES; (2) TO PROVIDE RESEARCH AND EDUCATION ABOUT HOSPICE CARE TO THE PUBLIC AND THE HEALTHCARE COMMUNITY; (3) TO HAVE AND TO EXERCISE TO THE EXTENT NECESSARY OR DESIRABLE FOR THE ACCOMPLISHMENT OF ANY OF THE AFORESAID PURPOSE, AND TO THE EXTENT THAT THEY ARE NOT INCONSISTENT WITH THE CHARITABLE PURPOSES OF THE CORPORATION AND THE LIMITATIONS IMPOSED BY SECTION 501(C)(3) OF THE CODE, ANY AND ALL POWERS CONFERRED UPON THE CORPORATION BY THE MARYLAND GENERAL CORPORATION LAW.
