THE EAST BAY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION IS A LEADING RESOURCE FOR MOBILIZING RESOURCES AND COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP TO TRANSFORM THE LIVES OF PEOPLE IN THE EAST BAY WITH PRESSING NEEDS. WE HAVE IDENTIFIED TWO, INTER-RELATED ISSUES THAT CAN LEAD TO THIS TRANSFORMATION: SUPPORT FOR YOUNG CHILDREN TO SUCCEED WITH A FOCUS ON THE CRITICAL PERIOD FROM BIRTH TO THIRD GRADE, AND ENHANCING THE ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES FOR ADULTS AND FAMILIES, PARTICULARLY THOSE WITH SIGNIFICANT BARRIERS TO ACHIEVING EMPLOYMENT AND FINANCIAL STABILITY.
